What should governments tell the public about terror threats?
More complex understanding is required
The task here is surely to pitch the level of the argument away from simplistic good/bad analogies. Psychologists know that this represents undeveloped thinking. The media needs to help the public here - they are the most immediate and obvious information source - and where this need is not met then the internet may yet prove to be the best way to communicate and support more complex understanding of the issues, particularly the link between foreign policy and terrorism.
